Berwald Roofing has a history of quality workmanship and top-notch service of over 70 years. Founded in 1936 by E.R. Berwald, the company primarily installed shingles and siding. In 1950, the company was incorporated to accommodate growing business. A solid reputation and satisfied repeat customers represented the growth of its early years, and allowed Berwald to expand it’s services to include hot tar roofs, sheet metal flashing, slate and clay tile. In 1954, E.R. Berwald brought his two sons, Gene and Ken, into the business, who remain active in the company today.
Fifty-five years later, Berwald is one of the largest roofing companies in Minnesota. While they have added many services, including ornamental sheet metal, architectural panels, single-ply roofing and a full maintenance program, they have retained a core set of values based in hard-work, dependable service and client satisfaction. Berwald employs highly skilled laborers – the average employee has 20 years experience, while the average amount of experience for their management team is 36 years. Also, Berwald places value on continuing education, such as asbestos removal and safety training, keeping their employees abreast of new developments in the industry. While Berwald Roofing is rooted in the past, they understand the value of putting new technologies to work for them, using state-of-the-art materials and equipment in manufacturing and the field.
