Architectural Metals and Panels
We have the experience and skill to work with architectural and ornamental metals in almost any application. Architectural metals offer a huge range of possibilities ranging from architectural wall panels to ornamental facades. Metal roofing has been in use for centuries, but recent technological advances have given new versatility to this medium.
Architectural Metal Panel Systems
Architectural Metal Panel Systems including a wide variety of panel profiles and system. Weather your building needs include a manufactured panel system or a custom built system we have the knowledge, expertise, and ability to assist you in any metal panel project.
We have the ability to produce our own architectural metal roof and wall panels for faster installation and complete customization to suit your needs. We fabricate and install many panel profiles according to the demands of your project.
Aluminum Composite Systems
Aluminum Composite Wall Panel Systems are becoming more widely used in today’s ever growing industry. This panel system can be installed over numerous substrates; it utilizes a route-and-return panel style, it is available in 3mm, 4mm or 6mm material, and has two main options for esthetic appearances, a dry-set (BPS-DR1000) or wet-set (BPS-WE1000) system. A dry-set system consists of an aluminum extrusion clip system with a matching color strip recessed in the panel joints. A wet-set system consists of an aluminum clip system with sealant set inside the panel joints.
We work with the following manufacturers for Aluminum Composite Wall Panel projects.
- Alcan Alucobond
- Alcoa Rynobond
Aluminum Plate Systems
Aluminum Plate Wall Panel Systems are similar to aluminum composite systems in their style and appears. This panel system can be installed over numerous substrates, it utilizes a route-and-return panel style, it is available typically in 1/8” (.125) thick material, and is typically installed in a wet-set system.
CENTRIA Panel Systems
While CENTRIA field-assembled wall and roof panels provide a practical, weather-tight and moisture-resistant solution to a wide range of applications, CENTRIA factory-foamed architectural and industrial wall and roof panels combine beauty and strength while providing excellent R-values.
Zinc and Copper Systems
The use of Zinc and Copper as roofing and wall materials dates back centuries, and you can expect that type of historic wear from a roof or wall cladding made from one of these classic, beautiful materials. Both materials are strong and corrosive resistant, and require the knowledge of a skilled tradesman for installation. Berwald has installed a wide variety of architectural and ornamental metals, including a restoration of the copper roof on the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis, a 100-year old church (see photo below).
Cor-Ten Systems
Cor-Ten metal is one of the latest trends in roofing and wall panel products. Its unique look and natural oxidizing finish provides a beautiful color and texture, with minimal care required because it does not have a painted finish that could fade or scratch over time. Unlike older exposed steel applications, Cor-Ten can achieve more gorgeous deep dark rust much quicker and is constructed from heavy gauge steel decreasing the likelihood of rusting through.
Standing Seam Metal Roofing
A standing seam roof is constructed of interlocking panels running vertically from the top of the roof to the eave. The interlocking seam where two panels join together is raised above the roof’s flat surface, allowing water to run off without seeping between panels. Standing Seam Metal Roofing is increasing in popularity every year due to its unmatched durability and investment value.
We work with the following manufacturers for architectural metal roof projects.
- Firestone Una-Clad
- Coated Metal Group Ultra-Clad
- Peterson Aluminum Pac-Clad
- Berridge Manufacturing
- Ryerson ColorKlad & AlumaKlad
- Merchant & Evans Inc. Zip-Rib
- Centria
Flat Lock (BPS-FL5000) Panel System
Berwald’s flat lock panel system is constructed of interlocking panels that utilize specially designed joints concealing all fasteners and has an integrated clip system. The flat lock panel system can be made of squares, rectangles or diamonds, and can be installed horizontally or vertically. In contrast to shingles, they have a similar look with hemmed edges (hemmed over on the top, under on the bottom) which interlock to form simple joints. This panel system is a reliable, esthetically pleasing option for any wall panel location, even when the building shape is geometrically complicated. The panels are available in pre-finished steel or aluminum, copper, zink, and many other products.
Column Covers
Berwald has the capabilities to fabricated and install your metal column covers to complement your building design. No matter the shape or size we can provide a quality cover that will accent any building exterior or interior. Column covers can be constructed from aluminum composite or aluminum plate material, horizontal and vertical joints have numerous esthetic appearance options, allowing us to work with any design you desire.
Louvers
The new range of louvers have been designed to provide simple and economical solutions to ventilation problems while offering excellent water rejection characteristics for more exposed/higher requirement areas. Berwald will install louvers according to your specifications.
Screen Walls
Screen walls are commonly used to hide unsightly but necessary equipment atop large buildings. The additional structural loading on rooftops is minimal and most screen walls are set back from the edge of the roof so that the base is not visible from grade.
Sun Shades
Sun Screens are economical, reduce energy consumption, and can enhance any building appearance. A few features and benefits include the aluminum construction is durable and rust resistant; the angled blades block direct sunlight & allows rain and snow to pass through easily.
NRCA ANSI/SPRI ES-1 Approved
Berwald is an approved NRCA ANSI/SPRI ES-1 fabricator and installer for all roof edge metal flashings (gravel stop, fascia, and copings). In 2003 The International Building Code (IBC) added a requirement for edge metal flashings, except gutters, for low-slope membrane roof systems to be designed according to ANSI/SPRI ES-1, “Wind Design Guide for Edge Systems Used with Low Slope Roofing Systems,” to resist buildings’ basic design wind blow-off speed. This is one example how we continually stay abreast with changes in the industry so you can be assured the products and services we provide are only the best.
